Office of Vice-President
2004,2005
John Geothert
The following is John's election campaign speech from October 2000
My name is John Goethert and I am running for the office of
Vice President.
I am 36 years old, married with no children. I currently own a 76 Spitfire and am working
on a 71 GT6. I love these cars, always have! I am a graphic designer and partner in a
small publishing business.
I chose the position Vice President because I would like to have a say in getting this
long overdue club off the ground. Vice President seems to me to be the most generic
position allowing me to help all other positions as needed. If any other office asks me to
help with ANYTHING for NASS I will do it to the best of my ability.
I do need to make everyone aware that I am the editor of Spitfire & GT6 Magazine (this
is NOT a plug). I will bow out IMMEDIATELY if anyone ever thinks I am using my position to
benefit the magazine. No questions asked. They will stay separate. I would, however,
choose to look at a possible negative as a positive. Since I make the decisions about
content, I can make sure that NASS issues, ads, events etc. will alway be in the magazine.
I believe it will make a big difference in recruiting new members not currently on the
internet. I mention this subject because I want everyone to know my position NOW not
later. I don't want people to "find out" in the future and wreck the hard work
we are all putting into NASS formation.
I believe we all need to keep the end in mind, put aside the egos, and do what is best for
the NASS. Remember, we are not only doing this for ourselves but our kids and other
enthusiasts years down the road. Count on my continued support, as no officer or not.
Thank you,
John Goethert
